Of course, I couldn’t let the season go without incorporating more of my favorite blue and white. Instead of bringing in a bunch of extra stuff, I’ve found myself drawn to elements that naturally hearken the changes of the seasons.įor Christmas, I focused on dried oranges, the dried hydrangeas from our garden that took front and center in our fall decor, faux and fresh fruit, feathers foraged from our property and ribbons in shades of blue, brown and burgundy. I’ve been craving simplicity in my seasonal decorating this year. Thus, the inspiration for our holiday home was born! The more I broke down those shows/movies, I realized that they all had old world decor in common. When I was brainstorming ideas for our Christmas decor this year, I kept coming back to the same bit of inspiration: Downton Abbey meets Little Women meets Outlander.
